Former cricketer Pranab Sarmah dies, ACA pays condolences

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) payed condolences to Pranab Sarmah due to prolonged illness at 3 AM on May 13, 2021 at his residence in Kharghuli, Uzanbazar, Guwahati. He was 62 years of age, and leaves behind his wife and 2(two) sons.

President of Assam Cricket Association, Romen Dutta and secretary Devajit Saikia also paid homage to Pranab Sarmah. Late Pranab Sarmah, a native of Nagaon, was a former Nagaon District Cricket Player who played in the Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament, and a State Cricket Umpire. An advocate of the Gauhati High Court and a prominent social worker, he was also a member of the Umpire Board, Assam Cricket Association

As an Umpire, he holds the distinction of officiating several prestigious tournaments including Nuruddin Ahmed Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament, R.G. Baruah(U-16) Inter-District Cricket Tournament and J.K. Baruah (U-19) Inter-District Cricket Tournament.
