First batch of ‘Sputnik V’ arrives in India

Amidst the shortage of vaccines and deteriorating coronavirus situation, India has received the first batch of Russian made Covid-19 vaccine ‘Sputnik V’. The batch that arrived in India contained 1 lakh 15 thousand doses and are expected to be rolled out across the country.

‘Spuntik V’ will be the third Covid-19 vaccine used in India after ‘Covishield’ and ‘Covaxin’. The vaccine distributor in India, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories said, “We are pleased to announce that the first consignment of 150,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine has landed in Hyderabad from Russia.”

According to reports, Russia will send around 250 million doses of ‘Sputnik V’ vaccine to India amid the ongoing second wave of Covid-19.
