EVM Glitches Disrupt Nagaon Lok Sabha By-Election; Polling Halted at Several Booths

9

Polling for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election began at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, but voting was disrupted at several polling stations following reported malfunctions of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

At polling station No. 42 at Shiuguri Primary School in Raha, the EVM reportedly stopped functioning after 45 votes had been cast, forcing polling to be temporarily suspended at the centre.

An EVM malfunction was also reported at polling station No. 142 in Dhing, where voting has reportedly remained disrupted for around an hour. The technical issue has led to a long queue of voters at the Shaheed Mozammil Haque Maktab School polling station.

Meanwhile, EVM-related problems have also been reported at polling stations No. 69 and 70 at Katoni Gaon Shaheed Higher Secondary School.

The Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election has 19,02,009 eligible voters and 2,112 polling stations across the constituency. A total of 15 candidates are contesting the election.
