Citizens above 18 years can register for Covid-19 vaccine from 28th April

People above 18 years, eligible for Covid-19 vaccination will be able to register for vaccine doses on the CoWIN app from 28th of April. Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in the country, the Central Government has lowered the minimum age for receiving Covid-19 vaccine to 18 years.

Union health minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan informed via Twitter, “Are you 18+? On April 28 register for vaccination against #COVID19 on http://Cowin.gov.in. #LargestVaccineDrive Phase 3 – begins on May 1.”

The Indian government has also stated the recently approved Russian Covid-19 vaccine, ‘Sputnik V’. The Phase 3 of the National Vaccination programme will start from 1st May, and people aged between 18 to 45 will also be eligible to get their vaccine shots.

Meanwhile, the second wave situation of the pandemic is worsening on a daily basis. On Thursday India reported 3.32 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases with 2,247 deaths making it the highest single day spike since the pandemic began.
