BATTERIES, GPS UNITS STOLEN FROM MAJULI–NIMATI 108 BOAT AMBULANCE
Two batteries and two GPS units have allegedly been stolen from a 108 emergency boat ambulance operating on the Majuli–Nimati route in Assam.
According to reports, the theft took place at night while the boat ambulance had remained non-functional for a long period. A complaint has been lodged at Bongaon Police Station by 108 service employees.
The stolen GPS units have also affected the attendance system, with 108 boat ambulance staff reportedly unable to mark their attendance due to the absence of the tracking devices.
Of the three boat ambulances serving the Majuli–Nimati route, two have reportedly remained non-functional for a long time, raising concerns over the availability of emergency medical transport for people in the river island region.
