Assam Tea Tribes Welfare Minister Sanjoy Kishan’s review meeting to save tea garden workers from third Covid wave

Guwahati, June 29 (NKTV): Minister of Tea Tribes Welfare and Labour Welfare Department, Government of Assam Sanjoy Kishan on Monday chaired a review meeting with the Tea Garden owners, managers and health workers of Tinsukia amid scare of the third wave of Covid-19.

During the meeting, the Minister took their suggestions on the health problems faced by the gardens workers and issued instructions to all gardens to avail doctors, pharmacists and oxygenated ambulances. He also urged the Tea Garden authorities to keep a close eye to ensure that garden workers are not neglected in any kind of health difficulty.

As per the new SOP that came to effect in Assam, all Industrial Units and Tea Gardens have been allowed to function, subject to observance of Covid appropriate behaviour.

The Head of the unit/Tea Garden shall be responsible for ensuring social distancing, mask-wearing by workers and staff, sanitization of industrial premises, thermal scanning, etc.
