Assam CM Allocates Portfolios to Ministers Following Cabinet Expansion

Governor approves distribution of departments; Finance to Jayanta Mallabaruah, Agriculture to Pijush Hazarika, Education and IT to Ranoj Pegu

Following the approval of the Governor of Assam, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced the allocation of portfolios among the members of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Assam.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will continue to hold key departments including Home & Political, PWD (Buildings & National Highways), PWD (Roads), Power, and Information & Public Relations, besides retaining charge of departments not allotted to any other minister.

Among the major allocations, Jayanta Mallabaruah has been entrusted with the Finance, Environment & Forest, and Mines & Minerals departments, while Pijush Hazarika will oversee Agriculture, Irrigation, and Parliamentary Affairs.

Dr. Ranoj Pegu has been assigned School Education, Higher Education, Tribal Affairs (Plain), and Information Technology. Ashok Singhal will continue to head Health & Family Welfare along with Medical Education & Research.

Bimal Borah has been given charge of Cultural Affairs, Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises, and Act East Policy Affairs. Biswajit Daimary will look after Handloom, Textiles & Sericulture, Sports & Youth Welfare, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship, and Indigenous & Tribal Faith & Culture.

Ashwini Ray Sarkar has been allotted Social Justice & Empowerment, Soil Conservation, and Welfare of Minorities & Development. Kaushik Rai will handle Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, Housing & Urban Affairs, and Cooperation.

Keshab Mahanta has been assigned Revenue & Disaster Management, Science, Technology & Climate Change, and General Administration. Krishnendu Paul will oversee Public Health Engineering, Hill Areas, and Barak Valley Development.

Nilima Devi has been entrusted with Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and Fishery departments, while Sushanta Borgohain will be responsible for Water Resources and Judicial.

The portfolio allocation comes after the recent expansion of the Assam Cabinet and is aimed at ensuring effective governance and streamlined administration across the state.
