Assam Athlete bags gold in National Sport Climbing Championship

Bringing glory and pride to the state, John Mathisue Marak, a member of Assam Rock & Sport Climbing Association (ARSCA) has bagged Gold medal in Speed Climbing event in the just concluded 27th IMF National Sport Climbing Championship 2023 held at General Thimaya National Academy of Adventure, Bengalore during 21st to 24th December 2023 that was held under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi.

It is worth mentioning here that John Marak has created history by winning the first Gold medal by an Assamese athlete in National level climbing championship till date. Also it is a glory that this is the first time an athlete from North East zone bagged a Gold medal in Speed Climbing.

John Mathisue Marak, along with two other participants, Chaya Sunar and Bipul Sarma, from ARSCA, joined the 27th National Sport climbing championship as part of the North East Zone team. The Northeast zone team was selected for nationals out of the IMF North East Zone Sport Climbing Championship 2023 held amongst the eight North Eastern States at Indian Himalayan Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco Tourism (IHCAE) at Chemchey, Sikkim during 7th to 10th December 2023, in which event, Assam won total five (5) medals in different categories/ event. The national championship is held amongst the seven different IMF zones in the country.

The members of Assam Rock & Sport Climbing Association (ARSCA), along with the sport lovers of the state expressed heartiest Congratulations to John and conveyed Best Wishes for his forthcoming event.
