Guwahati, August 26 (NKTV): The Assam Cabinet Meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 26 took numerous key decision for the state, which are listed below:

  • HS final, Degree final and PG final year classes are to start from the first week of September, 2021. In view of this, vaccination camp will be held at the offices of Block Elementary Education Officer, District Elementary Education Officer, Inspector of Schools and all University campus from tomorrow for vaccination of teachers, non-teaching staff and students above 18 years. For attending classes, 1st dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is mandatory.
  • For hostel boarders, both doses of the vaccine are mandatory. SOP on opening of educational institutions and related matters will be issued on or before 31st August.
  • Cabinet has decided to create three new divisions of Public Health Engineering Department at Majuli with HQ at Kamalabari, South Salmara-Mankachar with HQ at Hatsingimari and Bajali with HQ at Pathsala along with creation of 93 new posts for the new divisions.
  • The cabinet has decided to celebrate the birthday of Bhogeswar Baruah as Sports Day on September 03 every year.
  • Sports pension has been increased from existing Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000.
  • One time financial assistance to sportspersons at Rs 50,000.
  • Players who have won medals at national championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth games and Olympics will be given lifetime pension of Rs. 10,000 per month.
  • For smooth implementation of activities of Public Works Department (Building), the cabinet approved creation of eight new circles, 20 new divisions and 28 sub-divisions in the state. The cabinet also approved creation of 804 technical posts for the Department.
  • Deputy Commissioners have been empowered to transfer staff of government departments within the jurisdiction of the district in consultation with the Head of the concerned department up to the rank of Junior Engineer.
  • Science and Technology Department has been renamed as renamed as Science, Technology and Climate Change Department.
  • The cabinet reviewed the flood situation of BTAD and decided to depute Minister Jogen Mohan and UG Brahma to monitor the situation.
