Hardik Pandya Missing From Mumbai Indians’ Diwali Post; IPL 2027 Exit Speculation Gains Momentum

106

Questions over Hardik Pandya’s future with Mumbai Indians have resurfaced after the franchise shared its Diwali greetings on Instagram without featuring the star all-rounder. The post included several prominent players from both the men’s and women’s teams, but Pandya’s absence quickly caught the attention of fans, triggering fresh speculation about a possible change ahead of IPL 2027.

The festive post featured familiar faces such as Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Harmanpreet Kaur. However, Pandya, who captained Mumbai Indians during the 2026 IPL season, was noticeably missing. The franchise has not issued any clarification regarding his absence.

While his omission from a festive greeting does not necessarily indicate an impending departure, the development has attracted attention amid ongoing reports about his future at the franchise.

Speculation surrounding Pandya’s next move has intensified in recent months, with reports linking him to a possible switch to Punjab Kings ahead of the 2027 season.

One of the developments attracting attention is a reported discussion between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings over a potential player trade involving Pandya and India’s left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh.

However, neither franchise has officially confirmed any such negotiations or a possible transfer.

Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024 after spending two seasons with Gujarat Titans. Following his return, he was appointed captain, replacing Rohit Sharma.

The leadership transition generated considerable debate among Mumbai Indians supporters, with sections of the fanbase expressing their displeasure. The team’s performances also came under scrutiny during the period.

Uncertainty surrounding Pandya increased further during IPL 2026, when Mumbai Indians endured another challenging campaign and the all-rounder faced fitness concerns.

His social media activity also became a talking point after fans noticed that he had briefly unfollowed Mumbai Indians on Instagram, adding to speculation about his relationship with the franchise.

Amid the growing uncertainty, reports have also suggested that Rohit Sharma could once again take over the Mumbai Indians captaincy for the 2027 season, while Pandya could move to Punjab Kings.

However, these developments remain speculative, and no official announcement has been made by the franchise or the players involved.

Meanwhile, Pandya’s absence from the Diwali greeting has once again fuelled discussions about his future in Mumbai.

Interestingly, the cricketer shared an Instagram post revealing that he celebrated Choti Diwali with his immediate family. His personal festive celebration, however, has done little to stop the growing discussion surrounding his IPL future.

For now, whether Pandya will continue with Mumbai Indians or move to a new franchise ahead of IPL 2027 remains uncertain.
