Ayushmann Khurrana Receives Extortion Call After Tusshar Kapoor; Caller Claims Links to Lawrence Bishnoi Gang

14

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly received an extortion call from an individual claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The caller allegedly demanded crores of rupees from the actor, prompting the police to investigate the threat and verify the caller’s identity through voice analysis.

The incident comes shortly after actor Tusshar Kapoor received a similar threatening audio message from a person identifying himself as ‘Harry Boxer’.

During the investigation, the Crime Branch’s technical team examined the audio recording and compared the caller’s voice with official voice samples of Harry Boxer stored in its database. However, the samples did not match. According to senior police sources, this has raised suspicions that the caller may have impersonated a gang member to intimidate the actor and extort money.

The threats have further heightened concerns within the film industry, particularly following the recent firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai.

On October 18, Shroff was targeted while travelling in his car in Juhu. Although the 36-year-old actor escaped without injuries, his driver and a passerby were hurt in the incident. Members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang reportedly claimed responsibility for the firing.

Police have named Anil Pandit, an associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, as a wanted accused in the case. So far, 13 people, including the alleged shooters, have been arrested.

Investigators have also alleged that the accused had conducted reconnaissance near the residences of several prominent Bollywood personalities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.

The attack on Tiger Shroff has prompted several Bollywood celebrities to reassess their personal security arrangements. Security agencies and personnel associated with celebrity protection have reportedly witnessed a rise in requests for additional security cover.

Actor Ronit Roy, who operates his own private security company, confirmed the growing demand while speaking to NDTV. He said celebrities were taking preventive measures to ensure their safety and avoid potential risks.

According to Ronit Roy, the increased security arrangements are largely precautionary, as celebrities want to feel safe amid the prevailing concerns.

NDTV also spoke to several security personnel working with Bollywood celebrities, who confirmed that protection arrangements for their clients had been strengthened following the firing incident.

The changes are already visible around the residences of some of the industry’s biggest stars. Amitabh Bachchan, during his regular Sunday appearance outside his Juhu residence, was seen greeting fans from behind a bulletproof glass enclosure. His son Abhishek Bachchan was also present, closely monitoring the security arrangements.

A similar security overhaul was evident during Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday celebrations at his residence, Mannat, on November 2. A large number of police personnel were deployed, while the entire stretch outside the bungalow remained under tight security. Fans were initially prevented from gathering outside the residence.

Later in the evening, Shah Rukh Khan made a special appearance with his family to greet his fans. However, unlike previous years, the actor maintained a considerable distance from the crowd. Rather than approaching the boundary wall or standing on the specially constructed staircase, he waved to his admirers from the terrace of his residence.

With extortion threats and security-related incidents drawing increasing attention, Bollywood celebrities are now placing greater emphasis on personal protection and preventive security measures.
