Black Smoke Seen Over Delhi’s North Block

Black smoke was reported rising from North Block in Delhi on Monday morning, triggering concern in the area. Soon after receiving information about the smoke, six fire engines rushed to the spot to assess the situation.

North Block houses the offices of the Union Finance Ministry and the Home Ministry. Several posts on social media platform X showed thick black smoke billowing from the rear side of the building.

However, the exact cause of the smoke remains unclear. Officials from the fire department are expected to provide further details as the situation is assessed.

The issue came into focus after Member of Parliament Milind Deora shared a photograph on his X account on Monday morning, following which reports about the incident began circulating.

The sight of smoke from North Block caused concern because the building is located close to the old Parliament House and not far from the new Parliament building. Rashtrapati Bhavan is also situated nearby.

Police personnel and fire department teams reached the location to assess the situation. Further details regarding the cause of the smoke were awaited.
