Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have been released from judicial custody after seven days, following an order by a Special Executive Magistrate in Delhi.
The two were detained after allegedly scaling the locked gates of Jantar Mantar on October 13 and waving national flags to protest the site’s removal from the list of designated protest venues.
They had been in judicial custody since October 14 over allegations of violating a peace bond. The court accepted their personal bonds and surety bonds of ₹50,000 each, while directing that the inquiry continue.
After his release, Saurav Das said, “Truth has triumphed.” The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Friday.
