Saudi Crown Prince Rejects Israel’s Offer to Fight Houthis in Yemen
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has reportedly rejected Israel’s offer to join the fight against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, according to Israeli media reports. The proposal, reportedly conveyed through US mediation by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, aimed partly to strengthen ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
However, the Saudi Crown Prince reportedly opposed the move over concerns about a public backlash. Efforts to normalise relations between the two countries have faced major setbacks since the Gaza war began in October 2023.
Meanwhile, Iran has urged Saudi Arabia to pursue a political solution to the escalating conflict and offered to facilitate dialogue. Regional tensions have intensified following a deadly attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, which reportedly killed 13 people and injured hundreds, according to the details provided.
