Assam Rifles Patrol Team Ambushed Along India-Myanmar Border, One Soldier Killed

An Assam Rifles patrol team was ambushed along the India-Myanmar border early Tuesday morning, in an attack that reportedly left one personnel dead.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place at around 6:30 am near Nampong Nala. The Assam Rifles personnel were reportedly conducting a patrol near an ongoing border fencing construction site when they came under attack.

Cadres of the NSCN-K-YA (Yung Aung faction) are suspected to be behind the ambush. However, security forces have not yet officially released further details regarding those responsible for the attack.

Following the incident, security has been intensified across the area. Security forces have stepped up search operations to track down the attackers, while patrolling and checking have also been increased along the border region.
