Denish Das Named Captain as Assam Announces Squad for First Two Ranji Trophy Matches

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has announced the 15-member Assam Senior Men’s Cricket Team for the first two matches of the 2026–27 Ranji Trophy (Multi-Day) Tournament, scheduled to begin on October 11.

Denish Das has been named captain of the Assam side for the opening two matches against Punjab and Tripura.

The squad includes experienced campaigners Sibsankar Roy, Rishav Das and Swarupam Purkayastha, along with wicketkeepers Sumit Ghadigaonkar and Anurag Talukdar. Rajveer Singh, Nibir Deka, Mohit Thakur, Amlanjyoti Das, Mukhtar Hussain, Sunil Lachit, Dipjyoti Saikia, Roshan Alam and Bishal Newar have also been selected.

The ACA has additionally announced a nine-member standby list, featuring Rituraj Biswas, Ayush Agarwal, Darshan Rajbangshi, Hridip Deka, Akash Sengupta, Bhargab Pratim Lahkar, Abdul Ajij Kuraishi, Rahul Singh and Bishal Saha.

Assam will look to make a strong start to its Ranji Trophy campaign under Denish Das’s leadership as the team prepares for its opening fixtures against Punjab and Tripura.
