President XI lift JK Barooah U-19 title
President XI clinched the Elite Group title of the JK Barooah U-19 Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2026 in emphatic fashion, defeating Dhemaji by an innings and 41 runs in the final at the BDSA Playground, Barpeta.
After winning the toss, Dhemaji opted to bat first but struggled against a disciplined President XI bowling attack, being bowled out for just 77 runs in 34.3 overs.
Bibek Thapa was Dhemaji’s top scorer with 23 runs off 47 balls, while Mohammad Salman contributed 18 off 37 deliveries. Siddhartha Das led the President XI attack brilliantly, claiming 5 wickets for just 11 runs. Alham Wahid also impressed with 2 wickets for 16 runs.
President XI responded strongly, posting 201 all out in 63.3 overs and securing a crucial first-innings lead of 124 runs. Aman Yadav anchored the innings with a superb 96 off 163 balls, narrowly missing out on a well-deserved century.
Mrinmoy Das scored 29 off 66 balls, while Tushar Rudra Borah added a quick 27 off 27 balls. Nandon Pator contributed 22 off 37 balls.
For Dhemaji, Hritik Rowniar was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for 71 runs, while Nitul Kaman and Shyam Babu Rai claimed three wickets each.
With a massive deficit to overcome, Dhemaji once again struggled with the bat in their second innings. They were dismissed for 83 in 34.2 overs, handing President XI a comprehensive innings victory.
Hritik Rowniar top-scored with 25 off 38 balls, followed by Nitul Kaman with 18 off 23 balls and Vivek Pandey with 17 off 39 balls.
Siddhartha Das once again spearheaded the President XI bowling attack, taking 5 wickets for 28 runs to complete a remarkable 10-wicket match haul. Rahul Tamuli chipped in with 4 wickets for 21 runs, while Julien Konwar claimed one wicket without conceding a run.
The dominant performance saw President XI wrap up the final with a convincing innings-and-41-run victory and lift the Elite Group championship.
