58

In a high-risk high-altitude rescue, Indian Army Aviation pilots evacuated a casualty from an extremely challenging slope at 18,600 feet near Nun Kun.

With strong winds and no proper landing space, the pilots had to execute the mission under exceptionally difficult conditions. The helicopter was lightened by removing non-essential equipment and carrying limited fuel to make the evacuation possible.

In a critical manoeuvre, the aviators managed to land with one skid touching the steep slope, allowing the casualty to be safely evacuated.

The mission was carried out during the last available landing window of the day and showcased the remarkable skill, courage and determination of Indian Army Aviation personnel.
