Neeraj Chopra misses Lausanne Diamond League Gold by Just 9cm
India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished second in the men’s javelin throw at the Lausanne Diamond League 2026, missing out on the gold medal by a tiny margin of just 9 centimetres.
Competing in his third event of the 2026 athletics season, Chopra produced his season-best throw of 88.05m. However, it was not enough to claim the top spot.
Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage clinched the gold medal with a throw of 88.14m, beating Chopra by just 0.09m.
Chopra’s 88.05m effort marked an encouraging improvement in his season and showed that he is continuing to build momentum as the athletics season progresses.
