Young scholars showcase intellectual excellence at Kuladhar Das Scholars’ summit 2026
The Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati, successfully hosted the second edition of the Kuladhar Das Scholars’ Summit 2026, an inter-school competition aimed at fostering critical thinking, research, academic excellence and intellectual engagement among young learners.
Instituted in memory of the school’s visionary founder, Late Kuladhar Das, the summit seeks to provide students with a platform to analyse contemporary issues, exchange ideas and present their perspectives with confidence. Kuladhar Das established Modern English School in 1984 with the vision of nurturing not only intellectual abilities but also character and responsible citizenship.
The event began with the felicitation of the distinguished judges, followed by the inaugural address by Mrs. Jonali Das, Principal of Modern English School. Welcoming the participating students, she encouraged them to embrace inquiry, dialogue and innovation as essential qualities for future leaders.
The summit featured three intellectually engaging competitions. The Panel Discussion was based on the theme “Codification vs Pluralism,” where participants examined the balance between uniform legal frameworks and diverse cultural, social and traditional practices.
The Paper Presentation focused on “The Architecture of Modern Inflation.” Students presented research-based perspectives on the economic, social and global dimensions of inflation, highlighting its impact on contemporary society.
The Symposium, themed “Epistemology, Media & the Post-Truth Era,” encouraged participants to critically examine the relationship between knowledge, truth, misinformation and media in the digital age. The presentations reflected considerable maturity, originality and awareness of contemporary challenges.
The competitions were adjudicated by an eminent panel of academicians. Dr. Pankaj Jyoti Gogoi, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Arya Vidyapeeth College, judged the Panel Discussion; Dr. Chandraprabha Bohra, Assistant Professor, Department of M.Com, KC Das Commerce College, judged the Paper Presentation; and Dr. Muktikam Hazarika, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, Cotton University, judged the Symposium.
Students from St. Francis D’Assisi High School, Boragaon; Brahmaputra Valley English Academy, Bongra; St. Francis De Sales Higher Secondary School, Satgaon; St. Vivekananda English Academy, Maligaon; Maria Public School, Birkuchi; Modern English School, Kahilipara; and Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School, Geetanagar participated in the summit.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Mrs. Jonali Das said that the summit reflects the school’s vision of nurturing inquisitive minds who are willing to question, research and engage with complex global issues. She emphasised that such platforms prepare students not merely for examinations but also for responsible citizenship and lifelong learning.
The summit concluded with a prize distribution ceremony attended by Mr. Pankaj Das, Director, Modern English School, who congratulated the winners and encouraged all participants to continue pursuing academic excellence and intellectual curiosity.
In the Paper Presentation, Samiksha Phukan of Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School won the Best Paper Award, while Aarohee Kalita of Brahmaputra Valley English Academy received the Best Presentation Award. Sayan Ghosh of Modern English School won the Innovation Award, and Neerah Sarma of St. Vivekananda English Academy received the Young Researcher’s Award.
In the Panel Discussion, Dhritismita Rabha of Modern English School won the Best Panellist Award, while Mansun Thakuria of Brahmaputra Valley English Academy received the Influential Interlocutor Award. Ankan Bhatta of Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School and Bhargav Bora of St. Francis D’Assisi High School received Special Jury Mention Awards.
In the Symposium, Moucham Sarma of St. Vivekananda English Academy won the Best Presentation Award, Dhritimoni Sarma of Brahmaputra Valley English Academy received the Runner-Up Award, and Kavyapriya Das of Modern English School received the Special Jury Award.
All participants were presented with certificates in recognition of their efforts and enthusiastic participation.
The successful second edition of the Kuladhar Das Scholars’ Summit further strengthened Modern English School’s commitment to promoting academic curiosity, interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking and thoughtful leadership among students.
