Ambubachi Mela Just Days Away; Kamakhya Temple Gears Up for Grand Annual Event

17

With only a few days remaining for the annual Ambubachi Mela, preparations are in full swing at the revered Kamakhya Temple.

The Ambubachi Mela will commence on June 22, with the ritual Pravritti scheduled at 9:08:42 PM. The temple’s sanctum sanctorum will remain closed for three days, symbolizing the annual menstruation period of Goddess Kamakhya. The main temple doors will reopen after Nivritti on June 26.

Temple authorities have intensified preparations as thousands of devotees, saints, and ascetics have already started arriving at Kamakhya Dham ahead of the festival.

During the Ambubachi period, accommodation and food arrangements will not be available within the temple premises for general devotees. However, special arrangements have been made for sadhus and saints.

Devotees will be allowed to enter the temple premises from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The VIP darshan facility will remain suspended from the commencement of the festival until June 30.

To facilitate the movement of pilgrims, drinking water facilities will be provided along the routes used by foot travellers. Keeping the summer heat in mind, carpets will be laid across the entire pilgrimage route for the convenience of devotees.

Security arrangements have also been significantly strengthened, with more than 500 CCTV cameras and over 100 security personnel to be deployed during the event.

Authorities expect the arrival of more than 800,000 devotees at Kamakhya this year, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in the region.
