Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award Presented on 30th Death Anniversary

The 30th death anniversary of eminent journalist Parag Kumar Das was observed today with the presentation of the annual Parag Kumar Das Journalism Award.

The award was conferred upon senior journalist Haidar Hussain in a solemn ceremony held at the Guwahati Press Club.

The event was organized by the Parag Kumar Das Satirthha Mancha. The award consists of a shawl, a cash prize of ₹25,000, a Seleng chadar, a Gamusa, and a citation.

Parag Kumar Das’s wife Purabi Das and brother Pallav Das paid floral tributes at his portrait during the programme.

Notable attendees included eminent writer Devabrata Das, thinker Lakshminath Tamuli, and senior journalist Dilip Chandan, who spoke about Parag Kumar Das’s impactful writings and journalistic career.

Haidar Hussain donated the cash component of the award back to the Guwahati Press Club as a contribution.

The programme highlighted Parag Kumar Das’s dedication to fearless and principled journalism, and his enduring legacy in Assam’s media landscape.
