Car Driver Shamim Ahmed Brought to Guwahati; New Details Emerge in Mathgharia Accident Case

Shamim Ahmed, the driver of the Swift car involved in the horrific accident in Mathgharia that killed three young women, was brought from Dibrugarh to Noonmati Police Station today.

Addressing a press conference, Traffic DCP Jayanta Sarathi Bora revealed several crucial details about the incident.

According to police, Shamim Ahmed along with the three young women had gone to Exoro Bar at Rudraksh Mall in Bhangagarh on the night of the accident. They left the bar around 3 AM. The bill at the bar was approximately ₹19,000.

The Swift car was rented from Bhargav Deka of Dhemaji. Shamim had taken the vehicle from him.

At the time of the accident, the car was reportedly travelling at a speed of 94 kmph. The driver’s airbag was found deployed at the scene.

After the accident, Shamim fled to Shillong and later escaped from Shillong to Dibrugarh, from where he was brought back to Guwahati.

Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
