Bud Cricket Club clinched the title of the 8th Assam Premier Club Championship 2025–26 (Guwahati Leg) after securing a decisive first-innings lead over City Cricket Club in the final held at the iconic Judges’ Field. The championship is being organized by the Assam Cricket Association.
The final ended in a draw, but Bud Cricket Club’s dominant first-innings performance ensured their victory. After bowling out City Cricket Club for 112 in the first innings, Bud CC posted a massive total of 361 runs. City Cricket Club, in their second innings, were 80 for 5 when the match concluded, handing Bud CC the title on the basis of their substantial first-innings advantage.
Bud Cricket Club’s innings was anchored by a splendid century from Sanjay Kumar Singh, who scored 108 runs off 174 balls. Captain Swarupam Purkayastha contributed a fluent 96, while wicketkeeper-batter Anurag Talukdar remained unbeaten on 61, guiding the team to a commanding total.
For City Cricket Club, Rabi Chetry stood out with the ball, claiming an impressive six wickets for 110 runs. Despite determined efforts from their bowlers, City CC could not overcome the deficit created in the first innings.
The Closing Ceremony was held at Judges’ Field in the presence of distinguished dignitaries. Rajinder Singh, Joint Secretary of the Assam Cricket Association, attended as the Chief Guest. Bikash Kumar Pathak, Hony General Secretary of Bongaigaon District Sports Association and Observer (Headquarter Zone), Assam Cricket Association, graced the occasion as the Special Guest.
Other officials present on the dais included members of the Guwahati Sports Association — Sajjad Zaheer Hussain (Joint Secretary), Kajal Paul Choudhury (Treasurer), Zahirul Haque (Assistant General Secretary), Bablu Choudhury (Assistant General Secretary), Nasir Gul Khan (Sports Secretary – Cricket), and Munin Nobis (CEO).
The dignitaries distributed trophies and awards to the winning and participating teams, marking the successful conclusion of the Guwahati Leg of the championship.
Both Bud Cricket Club and City Cricket Club have qualified for the Intra Zonal Round (Headquarter Zone), scheduled to be held at Judges’ Field, Guwahati, from February 24, 2026.
The Guwahati Sports Association expressed gratitude to the Assam Cricket Association, participating clubs, match officials, players and stakeholders for their cooperation and support in making the tournament a grand success.
