Trump Says US Could Strike Iran ‘As Soon as Tomorrow’

US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington could launch fresh military strikes against Iran as soon as Sunday, while leaving the door open for a negotiated agreement with Tehran.

“We’re thinking about doing it, and maybe tomorrow,” Trump told reporters on Saturday when asked about the possibility of renewed attacks. He declined to clarify whether a decision had been made, saying, “Do you really think I’m going to tell you if I’m going to do it?”

Trump said Iran could avert further military action by reaching an agreement with the United States, but questioned whether Tehran would honour any deal. He described a potential agreement as a “big, beautiful” deal.

The US president said his primary objective was to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Referring to an earlier US military operation involving B-2 bombers, Trump argued that further action might be necessary to ensure a lasting outcome.

“I’ve got to make it permanent,” he said, adding that this was the only reason he was pursuing the course of action.

Trump also claimed that oil shipments through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz had increased compared with levels before the war began, but did not provide figures to support the assertion.

Despite the warning, the president offered no definitive indication of Washington’s next move, suggesting that both renewed military action and negotiations remained possible.

“I may have to finish it off, or maybe they’ll make a deal,” Trump said. “But I’m not sure. Either way, we win.”

The US-Israeli war against Iran, which began in February and triggered a wider regional conflict, remains unresolved despite a ceasefire and efforts to finalise a peace agreement. Trump’s latest remarks signal continued uncertainty over whether diplomatic efforts will prevent another round of military confrontation.
