CGM of APDCL Deepak Kumar Das suspended for misconduct

Deepak Kumar Das, chief general manager of Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) (Com & EE) has been suspended from office for his gross misconduct and negligence in duty. In an order issued by the APDCL Office, Das has been suspended for his gross negligence in the duty which led to the pilferage of electricity by M/S B.D.S Steel Industries, Deuduar, Kamalpur in Baihata causing a huge loss of revenue to APDCL. Therefore, Das has been placed under suspension with immediate effect.

The Assam Government order said that he will be entitled to draw subsistence allowance during the suspension period as per rules. Das will hand over his charge as may be directed in a following-up order. In another case, Subrajyoti Hazarika, chief General Manager (Anti-Theft and Security), APDCL has also been terminated from office for his negligence in duty. In an order issued by the office, it said that Hazarika was found to conduct gross negligence in taking action against anti-theft activities and therefore, he was placed under suspension.

Moreover, the Assam government has also issued transfer order in the top ranking officials of APDCL. Debajyoti Das, CGM (PP&D) has been transferred and posted temporarily as CGM (Com & EE), APDCL Vice Deepak Kumar Das has been suspended until further orders. Manoranjan Kalita, CGM (D&S) has been transferred in the same capacity and posted Temporarily as CGM (D&S) in place of Dipankar Nath who has been transferred and posted temporarily as CGM (NRE), APDCL against vacant post.
