Bhargavjyoti Borah Leads Nabajyoti CC to Dominant Win Over ICON Sports

In an exciting encounter of the Guwahati Sports Association Qualifying Round Cricket League 2024–25, Nabajyoti Cricket Club secured a convincing 8-wicket victory against ICON Sports Club at the iconic Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.

Winning the toss, ICON Sports Club opted to bat first but managed to post only 110 runs in 19.4 overs. Their batting performance was anchored by Rakesh Mandal, who played a fine knock of 39 runs off 39 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six. Afjal Ali provided valuable support with an unbeaten 12 off 23 balls. Despite their efforts, disciplined bowling from Nabajyoti Cricket Club restricted ICON’s total.

Leading the bowling attack for Nabajyoti, Bhargavjyoti Borah was outstanding, claiming 3 wickets for 2 runs in 4 overs, while Jintu Moni Deka and Dipjyoti Talukdar took 2 wickets each, tightening the screws on the opposition.

In reply, Nabajyoti Cricket Club chased down the target comfortably in just 13 overs, scoring 112 for 2. Bhargavjyoti Borah once again shone, this time with the bat, scoring a brisk 30 off 36 balls. Jyotipom Das added a steady 22 off 26 balls, while Adarsh Saikia chipped in with 10 off 15 balls.

For ICON Sports, Tinku Barman and Afjal Ali picked up one wicket each, but the bowlers couldn’t prevent Nabajyoti from cruising to victory.

With this win, Nabajyoti Cricket Club continues to strengthen its campaign in the Qualifying Round League.
