75 mega blood donation camps organized across Assam in sync with Seva Week

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the state-level inaugural programme of the nationwide campaign ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ at Bongaigaon today. On this occasion, he also launched the State Government’s ‘Seva Week’ initiative, to mark the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday, which will continue till September 25.
The Prime Minister launched the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh today. Along with this, he also inaugurated the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah and distribution of nutrition-related benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. The nationwide campaign aims to promote women’s health across the country. From today till October 2, special medical camps for women will be organized nationwide, providing health check-ups, maternity support and scheme-related benefits.
The Prime Minister’s programme was live-streamed at today’s function in Assam, where the Chief Minister and others watched it together. Speaking to the media later, the Chief Minister said that the objective of the campaign launched today by the Prime Minister is to conduct health check-ups for women across the country and to provide immediate treatment if any disease is diagnosed. Mentioning that around 5,000 health camps are being organized in Assam under the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’, the Chief Minister added that during the period from today till October 2, efforts are being made to hold one health camp in each of the 26,000 villages of the State through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
He further said that under this campaign, free tests for women will be carried out for ENT, eyes, blood pressure, blood sugar and dental health, besides screening for anemia, sickle cell anaemia, tuberculosis and cancer. Antenatal care for pregnant women will also be ensured. In addition, iron and folic acid supplements will be distributed among women so that they can play a vital role in ensuring the overall well-being and empowerment of their families. The Chief Minister appealed to every woman to come forward and avail the health check-up facilities in these camps.
Dr. Sarma stated that in sync with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, the State Government is observing Seva Week from today till September 25 as a people-centric initiative. As part of this, each legislative assembly constituency of the State will host a mega health camp mainly for children and adolescents. In these health camps, children and adolescents below 18 years will receive special focus, with more than 50 types of diagnostic tests conducted by specialist doctors covering heart, neurological, genetic, liver, kidney, eye, and ENT-related diseases. If any disease is detected, appropriate treatment will be provided, along with free follow-up tests. Patients will also be referred to advanced hospitals with special facilities for free treatment as per requirement. The Chief Minister sought people’s cooperation for the successful implementation of these health camps.
The Chief Minister further said that during Seva Week, the State Government will also run a ‘Ni-Kshay Mitra’ campaign to support TB patients. Under this, names of voluntary donors willing to provide nutritional support to TB patients will be registered. These volunteers will be called Ni-Kshay Mitras, and with their contributions, nutritious food will be provided to TB patients. Informing that 75 mega blood donation camps were organised across Assam today in tune with Seva Week, he added that this initiative will be expanded further if people come forward.
Extending his greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, the Chief Minister said that in the last 11 years the Prime Minister has taken India forward on the path of self-reliance and development and with people’s blessings he will continue serving the nation for many more years.
Today’s function was attended by Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ashok Singhal, MP Phani Bhushan Choudhury, MLA Diptimayee Choudhury, Chief Executive Member of Kamatapur Autonomous Council Jibesh Roy, Commissioner-Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department Dr. P. Ashok Babu, along with many other distinguished persons and senior officials of the Health Department and district administration.
