In a moment brimming with cultural pride and sporting diplomacy, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia gifted the traditional Assamese gamosa to His Majesty King Charles III, putting a spotlight on North East India during a special meeting at Clarence House.

The symbolic gesture came alongside Manoj Badale, lead owner of the Rajasthan Royals—an IPL franchise that has embraced the North East as its second home. Together, they introduced both the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams to the King, a day after the third Test match at Lord’s.

The meeting underscored the deep-rooted connections between India and the UK, blending heritage and sport. Saikia’s presentation of the gamosa stood as a proud representation of Assam and the broader North Eastern region on one of cricket’s most prestigious platforms.
