Flag Off Ceremony at NABARD Assam Regional Office held

NABARD Assam Regional Office which has been promoting various number of Farmer Producer Companies in the entire state of Assam in order to uplift the socio-economic development of farmers as well as increasing their productivity of agriculture and allied produces.

11 number of Farmer Producer Companies have been selected from 03 districts – Nalbari, Morigaon and Barpeta of Assam in which a total number of 30 farmers, BODs, CEOs and associated stakeholders will be attending a 4 days training Programme & Exposure Visit to BIRD (Bankers Institute of Rural Development), Lucknow from 24th June till 27th June 2025.

In this regard, in order to kick-start this journey from Assam, a FLAG OFF event was organised at NABARD office DISPUR under the chairmanship of honourable CGM, NABARD Mr Loken Das. Guest Speakers from Coconut Board, SELCO foundation, NABKISAN were also invited to the event to make awareness of their schemes to the farmers in order to have a convergence in near future.

During the event, CGM NABARD Mr Loken Das interacted with the participants and highlighted why this TRAINING and exposure visit is important for them. He also highlighted that we should focus more on agriculture, cultivation, increase productivity in our own land (Assam) and even try to develop our own products through advanced and precision farming.

Further, it has been also noticed that migration of Assamese Youths to other states / cities in search of a job is common nowadays which is not a good sign for the state. So, we should try to reduce the migration of the young generation from Assam to other states and should focus on our own at our own land (Assam). added Shri Loken Das.

Further, AGM NABARD Mrs Bhama Deuri who was present in the meeting took a note and discussed the current and real issues / challenges faced by the farmers, farmer producer companies.

Mr P M Das who is taking care of these 11 FPCs as CBBO since 2024 described that – the outcome of this training and exposure visit will enable the farmers –

a. To manage their Farmer Producer Companies in terms of proper documentation.
b. Will help the farmers for an effective and efficient process / way of cultivation and increasing productivity.
c. Will help the farmer producer companies towards Credit linkages with Banks and other financial institutions.
d. Will help the farmers for convergence with other Govt. schemes and projects.
e. Will also help the farmers for creating market linkages through branding of their products, export, online sales and marketing etc.
