7 killed, 16,000 houses damaged as Cyclone Tauktae creates havoc in Gujarat

Around seven people died in Gujarat as Cyclone Tauktae created havoc and chaos in the state. According to reports, at least 16,000 house were gutted in the cyclone while over 30,000 trees and around 1,000 electric poles were uprooted due the gusty winds of the Cyclone Tauktae.

The meterologicial department have said that wind intensity reduced to 105-115 kmph gusting to 125 kmph, as the cyclone lay 15 km east-northeast of Amreli, around 125 km south-southwest of Surendranagar, and 205 km southwest of Ahmedabad.

The government of Gujarat have relocated over two lakh people to safer locations and the rescue operations in the state is going on at a rapid speed by the NDRF.
