UP Man Dies After Allegedly Being Dragged 1.5 Km on Car Roof in Kanpur

A 37-year-old man died under suspicious circumstances in Kanpur’s Hanumant Vihar police station area after allegedly being assaulted and dragged for approximately 1.5 km on the roof of a moving car. The victim’s family has alleged murder, prompting police to register a case and launch an investigation.

The deceased, identified as Biru Singh Bhadauria, worked as a salesman for a food products company. According to his family, he was returning home after visiting a fair when a man identified as Mewalal arrived in a car. Three other youths, including Rajveer, were allegedly accompanying him.

The family alleged that the youths stopped Biru and assaulted him. When he attempted to escape, the accused allegedly hit him with the car. They further claimed that he was placed on the car’s roof, with his hands trapped in the window glass, and dragged at high speed for around 1.5 km.

Following the incident, passersby alerted the police and the victim’s family. Biru was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His family rejected the possibility of the incident being a mere accident and demanded strict action against those responsible, alleging that an old rivalry was behind the attack.

The family also claimed that the incident had been captured by more than 12 CCTV cameras and urged the police to examine the footage to establish what happened.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abhishek Rahul said that on October 21, complainant Pradeep Shukla submitted a written complaint at the Hanumant Vihar police station. According to the complaint, Biru died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle.

The ACP said the investigation was underway and further legal action would be taken based on the evidence gathered.

Meanwhile, a video purportedly showing the incident has gone viral on social media. Police are examining the footage as part of their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Biru’s death.
