Union Minister J. P. Nadda visits Assam to assess the flood situation
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers J.P. Nadda has embarked on a three-day tour of flood-affected regions in Assam, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh to evaluate relief measures and healthcare services. His visit, spanning August 4 to 6, is aimed at assessing the damage caused by floods, flash floods, and cloudbursts, while also reviewing rehabilitation efforts and infrastructure restoration.
Nadda began his journey in Dibrugarh, Assam, on Tuesday. On August 5, he will travel to villages in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts to inspect relief camps, survey crop and housing losses, and meet with displaced families. Later that day, he is scheduled to visit Mon district in Nagaland, where he will review flood damage in Defence Colony and surrounding areas before returning to Assam for a high-level meeting with state officials on relief and health initiatives.
On August 6, the Union Minister will move to Yazali in Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor district to examine areas hit by flash floods and cloudbursts. His itinerary includes inspecting damaged roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, visiting relief camps, and interacting with affected residents. He will conclude his tour with a review meeting alongside Arunachal Pradesh government officials to evaluate the health situation and rehabilitation progress.
The official statement emphasized that the visit reflects the Centre’s commitment to the welfare and development of the Northeast. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often described the region as “Ashtalakshmi,” emphasizing its crucial role in India’s growth and development.
