Former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination convict AG Perarivalam has been granted bail by the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The court granted bail to Perarivalam in the context that he has gone for more than 30 years and hence he was entitled to bail.

The bench said ‘taking into account the fact that the applicant has spent over 30 years in prison, we are of the considered view that he is entitled to be released on bail, in spite of the vehement opposition by the Centre.’
