India, US to hold fresh round of BTA talks in New Delhi from June 1

India and the United States will hold another round of discussions on the proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) in New Delhi from June 1 to 4, as both countries look to finalise the contours of an interim trade pact and advance negotiations on a broader economic partnership.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, a delegation from the United States led by its Chief Negotiator will visit India for in-person talks with Indian officials on multiple areas, including market access, non-tariff measures, customs and trade facilitation, investment promotion, and economic security alignment.

The upcoming meetings follow the joint statement issued by India and the U.S. on February 7, 2026, in which the two sides agreed on a framework for an interim agreement aimed at ensuring reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade. The framework also reaffirmed their commitment to wider negotiations on the India-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement.

Earlier, an Indian delegation had visited Washington D.C. from April 20 to 23 for discussions with their American counterparts as part of the ongoing negotiations process.

The latest round of talks in New Delhi is expected to focus on finalising details of the interim agreement while simultaneously pushing forward discussions under the broader BTA framework, which is seen as a key pillar of growing India-U.S. economic ties.
