Guwahati City FC nominated for AIFF Grassroots Awards

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has nominated Guwahati City FC (GCFC) for its Grassroots Awards 2023-24. GCFC has been nominated in the operations category for the best grassroots activity program award and it is the only club from Assam to be nominated for these prestigious awards from the governing body of Indian football. Namma Soccer School, Karnataka, FC Mangalore, Karnataka and Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools are the other entities which are nominated in this category of awards. GCFC, founded in 2017 with the primary objectives of grassroots and youth development, have been in the forefront of the state football scenario since then.

It is the first ever entity of Assam to start an AIFF approved Golden Baby League (Greater Guwahati Baby League) in 2018 and already completed three successful seasons covering more than three thousand kids. It is running one of the successful football academy in the city providing football education to more than 200 kids and promoting them to various age group teams. GCFC is the first ever club to play in the top division of the Indian women’s football (IWL Qualifiers) in 2021. The club had a remarkable journey recently as their senior men’s team have been promoted to the prestigious GSA A Division Football League last year. It is the current district U15 champions and recently won the AFA State Futsal Championship to qualify for the AIFF Futsal Club Championship as the first ever club from Assam.
