Guwahati City FC (GCFC) and New Star Club booked their place in the semifinals of the Guwahati Sports Association’s B Division Football League 2023-24 at the Nehru Stadium. In the first of the last two matches of group B, GCFC played a goalless draw against New Star Club.
Edrick Mayong of New Star Club was awarded with the player of the match trophy by GSA life member Manjit Bhagawati. In other match, Rising Eleven Club beat Jewel Star Club 3-2. Naranjit Rabha (5′), Anthony Rabha (6′), Pradip Rabha (26′) scored for Rising, while Arki Kharmalki (40′, 57′) scored both the goals for Jewel Star. Player of the match Narapati Rabha of Rising Eleven Club was awarded by GSA Asstt. General Secretary Sajjad Zaheer Hussain. With this result, GCFC and New Star booked their place in the semifinals as the top two teams of the group. Rising and Jewel Star will play relegation round to avoid relegation to the C Division. Tomorrow, relegation round of the C Division shall start and tomorrow, Chandmari SC will face Huntos FC.
