In yet another blow to consumers, the price of eggs has increased significantly across Assam markets.
According to traders, the price of one plate (30 eggs) has risen by ₹20 to ₹30 within a short period. Earlier, a plate of eggs was available for ₹170. However, the price has now climbed to between ₹200 and ₹210 per plate.
This fresh hike in egg prices has added to the financial burden of common people, especially households that rely on eggs as an affordable source of protein. Market sources attribute the rise to various factors including increased transportation costs and supply chain issues.
Consumers have expressed concern over the continuous rise in essential commodity prices, demanding immediate intervention from the authorities to stabilize the market.
