Double mutant strain of Covid-19 found in Assam

In a shocking revelation, the double mutant Covid-19 virus’ existence has been found in Assam. It has been found on air passengers while undergoing mandatory Covid-19 test at the Dibrugarh Airport.

Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on his Twitter handle, “Recent samples from Dibrugarh Airport are positive for B.1.617 strain or the Indian double mutant (L452R and E484Q) strain of SARS-Cov-2. We need to be very very careful.”

According to study, the UK and California strain helped the double mutant strain to evolve in India and it was first found at Maharashtra.

The detection of the double mutant strain in the state is of major concern given that the pandemic situation is rapidly deteriorating. Assam on Wednesday detected 1,665 Covid-19 cases with 5 deaths.
