300 passengers flee from Silchar Airport to avoid Covid-19 test

In what can be termed as a most irresponsible act by people amid a devastating pandemic situation, 300 air passengers fled from the Silchar Airport on 21st April to escape mandatory Covid-19 test.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of health of Cachar district, Sumit Sattawan said that the case has been investigated. “We are investigating as to how did they fled from the testing center and what exactly happened. “

He informed that a total of 189 test were conducted at the Silchar airport, out of which  six passengers have been  tested positive.

The local police is currently tracing the passengers  and actions strict will taken against them.

Assam detected 1,665 coronavirus cases on 21st April with five deaths. Cachar district also saw a rise in Covid-19 numbers as 48 cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
