The star has deep roots in the state and is passionate about making Assam a prominent film destination.
Actor, producer and music entrepreneur Jackky Bhagnani is busy shuttling different creative roles but no matter how busy he gets, family always comes first for him. He is extremely close not just to his immediate family but has great respect for the different branches of the family tree. This is why he has a lot of love and sentimental attachment with Assam though very few people in the industry and the media are aware of his roots in the state. His mother, Pooja Bhagnani, spent her formative years in Assam and this has created a special bond between Jackky and the state. Thus, Jackky shares an emotional connection with the land, its people, and its rich cultural heritage.

He says, “My mother studied in Jorhat, at the Hemalata Handiqui Memorial School. She often shares some beautiful memories from her childhood with me which have now become a part of me. This is why every time I visit the state, I feel instantly at home. Coming here is always a very, very emotional moment for me. Be it the music, the food, the scenic beauty, artistic and cultural traditions, every single thing resonates with me and seems familiar. Every six months, I also visit the Kamakhya Devi temple because I am drawn to the primal energy of the place.”
He also hopes to work towards promoting Assam as a film and tourism destination. He says, “I aim to produce an Assamese film which will have a scale worthy of a pan-Indian audience. I aspire to make at least one Assamese film this year in synergy with a local producer and then keep adding to that creative momentum. Even beyond familial ties, I want to ensure that my work reflects a heartfelt commitment to the state’s heritage and future.”
