Cinema with a Cause: Production House Launches Flood Relief Initiative
Dream House Production (India) Pvt. Ltd. has announced a series of social welfare initiatives alongside the release of its upcoming Assamese feature film Tibro, reaffirming its commitment to using cinema as a platform for social responsibility and community welfare.
As part of the initiative, the production house has pledged to donate 20 per cent of the net profits from Tibro towards Assam flood relief efforts. More significantly, irrespective of the film’s commercial performance, the company has committed a minimum contribution of ₹21 lakh to support flood-affected families in the Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
In addition to financial assistance, members of the Tibro team will personally visit flood-affected areas in the two districts to distribute essential relief materials, interact with affected families and participate in voluntary relief work on the ground.
The company has also announced a long-term initiative through the Dream House Music and Film Academy, under which 51 students from Sivasagar and Charaideo will receive free professional training in music, filmmaking, film production and other creative disciplines. The selected students will also receive professional mentorship and industry-oriented skill development to help them build careers in the creative sector. Beneficiaries will be nominated through reputed non-governmental organisations from the two districts.
The initiative has been launched in memory of the company’s founder, Late Neeta Sharma, who envisioned creating meaningful cinema while empowering people through the creative arts. A native of Simaluguri in Sivasagar district, she also founded Wommanias, a women-led organisation dedicated to promoting women’s financial independence.
Following her untimely demise, her husband, Suresh Sharma, has taken forward her vision by completing Tibro and continuing the company’s social initiatives.
Speaking about the announcement, Suresh Sharma said that cinema has the power not only to entertain but also to inspire and serve society. He described the initiative as a responsibility rather than charity, adding that Neeta Sharma believed true success is achieved only when it helps uplift others. He said that through Tibro, the production house hopes to honour her vision by standing with flood-affected families while creating meaningful opportunities for young people in Assam’s creative industry.
By combining immediate humanitarian assistance with long-term investments in education and skill development, Dream House Production (India) Pvt. Ltd. hopes that Tibro will leave a lasting impact beyond the silver screen and contribute meaningfully to communities across Assam.
