CBI Registers Case against 8 Accused of NF Railway, Pvt company On Allegations Of Bribery

CBI REGISTERS CASE AGAINST EIGHT ACCUSED INCLUDING THEN DEPUTY CHIEF ENGINEER OF NORTH-EAST FRONTIER RAILWAY AND A PRIVATE COMPANY ON ALLEGATIONS OF BRIBERY; CONDUCTS SEARCHES AT 16 PLACES

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked then Deputy Chief Engineer and then 6 other officers of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Guwahati and a private company in a bribery case. Searches were conducted at 16 places in Assam, Tripura, Manipur and Delhi at the premises of accused. This led to recovery of incriminating documents related to the case and investment/acquisition of property by the accused.

The said case was registered against then Dy. Chief Engineer (Construction), the then two Assistant Executive Engineers (Construction), then Senior Section Engineer (Construction), three then Senior Section Engineers (P.Way/CON) and a private company based at Guwahati.

It was alleged that the aforesaid Railway officers had received illegal gratification/bribe/undue advantage in the bank accounts of their relatives/friends/their known persons from the said private company as a reward for smoothly passing their contract bills.
