August 31 deadline for Aadhaar enrollment: Assam Govt

Guwahati, June 17 (NKTV): The Government of Assam has set August 31, 2021 as the deadline for completion of the Aadhaar enrollment process. This was informed by the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, General Administration Department (GAD) in an order dated June 17.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had directed the GAD to complete the Aadhaar enrollment/Generation Exercise at the earliest possible time in view of the various beneficiary schemes being introduced by the Centre and the State Government.

“It has become imperative to concentrate specially in the areas where Aadhaar Generation has not been satisfactory so far” stated the order.

The state government has chalked out several steps to be taken to complete the process abiding by all Covid-19 protocols that include:

  • Centres may be set up in Camp mode wherever necessary, in co-ordination with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as and when required.
  • A maximum of 10 Persons will be enrolled per hour in each of the Centres. 
  • The Services of the field level functionaries may be utilised for house-to-house visits in their area of jurisdiction to check and ensure Aadhaar enrollment of Individuals. 
  • With regard to the original vendors engaged through contract agreement with GAD, the Deputy Commissioner may consider continuing their engagement only until the required period on agreed Terms.
  • The Deputy Commissioners may decide to close the Additional Centres wherever they are not required depending upon total enrollment in the areas.
