Newly appointed minister Atul Bora undertook his first official program after assuming charge of key departments, including Assam Accord Implementation, Panchayat and Rural Development, Border Protection and Development, and Excise.

During the visit to the Shaheed Smarak Kshetra in Boragaon, Atul Bora emphasised the state government’s renewed focus on the effective implementation of the Assam Accord. He stated that the recommendations of the Biplab Kumar Sarma Committee will be implemented in a phased manner.

Bora reiterated his commitment to sincerely discharging the responsibilities assigned to the Assam Accord Implementation Department. He also mentioned that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, several important decisions will be taken soon. He added that the Central Government has already given approval on various related issues.

Criticising the previous Congress government, Atul Bora said that the border problems in the state were created due to their negligence. He informed that discussions with neighbouring states for resolving border issues are continuing, and significant progress has been made in talks with Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.

The minister assured that the government will give special priority to rural development and new initiatives, ensuring all-round development of the state as per the decisions taken.

This visit signals the new government’s proactive approach towards implementing the Assam Accord and addressing long-pending border and rural development issues.
