Assam clinch one gold and five bronze medals in Karate

In the 67th National School Games, karate players from Assam have put up a promising performance. Assam won a gold medal and five bronze medals at the U-19 Boys and Girls National School Games held on 5th to 11th January, 2024 at the Bharatiya Vidyamandir Auditorium in Ludhiana, Punjab. Tanisi Das won the gold medal in the girls’ 32kg category. Apart from this, Angkita Rajbognshi and Sweta Hazarika won a bronze medal each in the 60kg and 52 kg weight category respectively. On the other hand, Hrishikesh Kalita (82kg weight category), Taksheel Majumdar (45kg weight category) and Suraj Debnath (35kg weight category) won three other bronze medals in the boys’ event.

Expressing happiness over the success of the players, All Assam Karate Association’s President Diganta Kalita and General Secretary Adarsh Choudhury congratulated them. It is to be noted that the Karate team of Assam at the National School Games was coached by Jiten Das and Debojit Saikia. On the other hand, the managers were– Jacinta Hansepi and Sarkiri Bey.
