Fresh details have emerged in the case involving Ghankanta. On October 16, 2024, Ghankanta reportedly purchased a .32 bore pistol from Swasti Gun House in Dimapur, Nagaland.

According to the information received, he purchased the pistol along with 40 rounds of ammunition for a total amount of Rs 3 lakh.

It has also come to light that the firearm was purchased using a retainer licence. Under the retainer arrangement, another individual can be authorised to possess or keep a firearm on behalf of the original licence holder.

It is noteworthy that the issuance of new arms licences in Nagaland has reportedly remained suspended since 2016. Against this backdrop, how Ghankanta managed to purchase the pistol through a retainer licence has become a significant aspect of the case.
