28th All Assam Jongom One-Act Play Competition to Be Held in December

The 28th edition of the All Assam Jongom One-Act Play Competition, one of Assam’s notable theatrical events, will be held from December 28 to 30, 2026, with a series of cultural programmes. The organisers announced the event at a press conference held at the Jongom office on Sunday.

Jongom president Golap Medhi, general secretary Bharat Goswami and other office-bearers attended the press conference. They briefed the media on the competition rules, participation procedures and prize categories.

The winning theatre group will receive a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of 30,000. The second-best team will be awarded 25,000, while the third-best team will receive 15,000.

In the acting categories, the Best Actor and Best Actress will each receive a trophy, certificate and 5,001 in cash. The second-best actor and actress will receive 4,001 each, while the third-best performers will be awarded 3,001 each.

Prizes will also be presented in several other categories, including Best Child Artist, Best Comic Actor, Best Script, Best Stage Design, Best Background Music and Best Disciplined Team. Winners in each of these categories will receive a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of 4,001, Jongom president Golap Medhi said.

Interested theatre groups can participate by submitting two copies of their play scripts, along with permission from the playwright and an entry fee of 501.
