Congress Leader Alleges Chinese Incursion Along Upper Subansiri Border, Claims Troops Entered 40–50 Km Into Indian Territory

Arunachal Pradesh Congress president and former minister Basiram Siram has alleged that Chinese troops have intruded into Indian territory along the Upper Subansiri border in Arunachal Pradesh. According to his claim, Chinese troops have entered approximately 40–50 kilometres into Indian territory. However, independent confirmation of the claim is not available in the information provided.

To assess the situation along the border, a Congress delegation led by Siram visited border areas, including Limeking and Taksing, from August 26 to 29.

Siram alleged that restrictions imposed by Chinese troops on the movement of local residents have affected the traditional livelihoods of people living in border areas of Arunachal Pradesh. He also claimed that face-offs and physical clashes between Indian and Chinese troops had taken place along the border.

Meanwhile, the Congress leader called for improved communication facilities, all-weather roads and essential amenities for Indian personnel deployed along the border.

He also advocated the formation of a separate ‘Arunachal Regiment’, with priority given to young people from Arunachal Pradesh.

Claiming that the government had rejected the allegations of border intrusion, Siram called for an impartial investigation to establish the facts. He also alleged that he had not been granted permission to meet the Vice-President to discuss the situation along the border.

Given the implications of these allegations for border security and the livelihoods of local residents, official statements from the concerned authorities and independent evidence would be necessary to establish the facts.
