Delhi School Bomb Scare: Girl Sends Fake Threat Email to Skip Classes

17

A schoolgirl in Delhi allegedly sent a fake bomb threat to her school in a bid to get a day off, triggering an evacuation and a police investigation. The sender was identified after a two-day probe, police said.

The incident took place at Air Force Bal Bharati School on Lodhi Road. On October 23, the student allegedly emailed the school with the subject line, “There is a bomb in your building.”

Alarmed by the message, school authorities evacuated the premises and alerted the police. A thorough search was conducted, but no explosives were found.

Cyber Cell Traces Email Sender

With several schools in Delhi receiving similar hoax threats in recent weeks, investigators took the matter seriously. The Delhi Police cyber unit analysed digital evidence and technical details to trace the source of the email.

On Saturday, police identified the sender as a student of the school. During questioning, she reportedly admitted to sending the email because she wanted the school to remain closed for a day.

Probe Underway Into Possible Links

Police are investigating whether the girl had sent similar threats previously or had any connection with other bomb scare incidents reported at schools across Delhi.

Further questioning is underway to establish the full circumstances behind the incident. Police said appropriate action would be taken under the Juvenile Justice Act.
